SET DESIGN/STAGE MANAGER - ARIEL SLACK

Ariel Slack is a theatre artist working in design, acting, and writing capacities in so-called BC and Ontario. They are the writer/actor/set/costume designer of How to Believe in Anything, which was first produced at the 2022 Vancouver Fringe Festival. It won the Cultchivating the Fringe award for digital development and was presented by The Cultch through their RE/PLAY platform (2024).

Ariel has worked as a mentor with the Paprika Festival supporting other young multidisciplinary artists, teaches set design workshops to youth through the Stratford Festival education department, and was a teaching artist with Tumbleweeds Theatre and the StageStruck: From Page to Stage devised theatre summer camp. Recent design credits: assistant designer on five shows with the Stratford Festival, including assistant set/costume designer on the world premiere of The Diviners; Set Designer, MAPS of Utopia: Eps. 1 & 2 (theatre/film hybrid project with the frank theatre); Set, Stiles and Drewe’s The Three Little Pigs (Carousel Theatre, Ovation Awards winner for outstanding set design); Set, The Pillowman (Untold Wants); Set, Amphitruo (United Players); Set, Mx (Off the Corner Productions/The Cultch); Set, Spine (Backbone Theatre Collective) Set, Cariboo Magi (Far From The Tree Productions); Set, Dancing Lessons (Naked Goddess Productions); Set, Alice in Glitterland (Geekenders); Set, Superior Donuts (Ensemble Theatre Company, Jessie Awards Nomination); Props, Best of Enemies, Gramma, Mother of the Maid (co-props), The Cake, Jesus Freak (Pacific Theatre).

Ariel has also been involved in several film projects as Production Designer/Art Director. Many of these have been nominated for (and sometimes won!) awards at both Canadian and international film festivals. Ariel is a Studio 58 Graduate (2018) and an associate member of ADC.
