WRITER/PRODUCER - KIMBERLY DENNESS-THOMAS
Picture
"I love helping performers find the spark that drives their creativity and helps them express their true voice. Odette Hallowes’ story came to me when I needed a bit of inspiration myself. From the moment I connected with her, I was hooked. Her story has stayed with me, and I share it now in the hope that it sparks something in you too.“

For over 30 years, Kim has worked as a director, vocal coach, and artist, focusing on both theatre and film. She is the founder and artistic director of Tumbleweeds Theatre, a vocal coach at South Island Studio, and was the director of arts programming at the Mosaic Learning Society. She also works with May St. Productions in TV and film. Kim has written, produced, and directed several stage productions, including Voices: The Forgotten Voices of Our Children, With a Little Help from Our Friends (Mosaic Learning Society/Tumbleweeds Theatre), Insomnia (She’s So Loud Festival), and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Mosaic/Tumbleweeds Theatre). She has also been involved with May St. Productions as a casting director, assistant director, and production coordinator, and has worked as an acting coach on Tiga Talk, Seasons 3 & 4, for the Aboriginal Peoples Television Network.
Kim’s youth programs have been recognized with awards: the United Way Leadership of the Year, the TLC Fund for Kids Grant, and the Victoria Special Projects Grant, along with a Pick of the Fringe nomination for her play Feel Better Dear. Many of Tumbleweeds Theatre’s alumni have gone on to successful careers in theatre and film, and Kim is especially excited that three of them have returned to be part of this production.
